Menopause Symptoms and How to Deal With Them
Updated: Apr 13, 2022

Sometimes women feel they are being too emotional or overly conscious of the things that are happening in their body with regard to menopause. It is my goal to let you know you are normal, these changes are normal and you are not alone.
As many of you know, we in the Northwest have been plagued by many forest fires in the last few weeks. While devastating and scary, they give us a good picture of what happens within our body during the menopausal transition. If any of you experience hot flushes and/or night sweats you know how suddenly your body can feel like an inferno!
Just like in the forest if there is not enough rain, too much dryness and a cinder happens along, there is fire. As estrogen drops during peri/post menopause we can have lack of moisture that allows the normal body heat, which usually stays in relative balance, to flare up and create a cascade of heat symptoms in your body. Once this imbalance gets establishes it can have some effects that we may not have anticipated:
We may find our skin lacks luster and elasticity. The oils the body supplied so readily in our 20s is closing up shop and packing out! We find ourselves lathering on the lotion and buying moisturizers and hair tonics to return to that younger looking skin and hair.
And how about your emotions?! This imbalance and rising heat is a lot like having PMS on constant loop. Irritated much?
We may experience poor sleep due to insomnia. For me it was a restless sensation of heat. Every night about 1:00am. Like clockwork. I know others that begin to wake about 3:00am and can’t get back to sleep no matter what they try.
Anxiety about normal everyday things that you’ve done without concern before now. Such as driving, being in crowds or meeting new people. Yes this is a symptom of menopause!
If any of this sounds like your experience please know you do not need to suffer, take pharmaceutical ‘solutions’ or sleep in the freezer. We can develop a plan specific to your concerns and goals that will regulate your hormone levels, relieve your irritability, cool you down and help you sleep again!
